Professor Lerga is the head of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, and the  head of the Information Processing Laboratory, at Faculty of Engineering, University of Rijeka. He and his team has been working on applying AI + advanced digital signal processing methods in various fields, including medicine (MRI, X-ray images, EEG data), music transcription, remote sensing, seismology, physics (gravitational wave detection), object detection in thermal images, underwater object detection, and sports.  In his lecture professor Lerga will focus on their research results in medicine, but he will mention other fields where same or similar algorithms may be implemented.
