Galaxy mergers are among the most important processes shaping the evolution of galaxies, yet their impact on star formation and the role of the surrounding environment remain actively debated. In this talk, I will present our study of galaxy mergers using the IllustrisTNG cosmological simulation, focusing on the evolution of galaxies from the nearby Universe to the early Universe ($0 < z < 15$). We investigate the star formation and mass evolution of merging galaxies and explore how their local environment is connected to their evolutionary history. We also compare the simulated star formation history with recent observational results from JWST, highlighting similarities and differences between simulations and observations. These results provide insight into how galaxy interactions and their environments contribute to galaxy evolution across cosmic time.
