To save future’s generations from the horrors of war. The UN was established with this aim. However, peacekeeping is not mentioned in the Charter, the organization’s activity is highlighted on this field. The UN is the only organization, which expanded it’s authority to the whole world and is being the most determaining actor of crisis management.
Which are the most recent challenges of the organization? How can the UN finance the robust missions? Is the UN’s activity relevant?
This dissertation introduces the UN’s history, and deals with answering the questions above.
