Buddhism is based mainly on the teachings of Gautama Siddhartha that has evolved into three distinct religious forms. The role of Buddhism in political and social life is significant in many regions, especially in Asia. It can be observed that some of the conflicts are getting a religious dimension, even if initially provoked by ethnic or political motives. As the conflicts are evolving, religion is ultimately becoming so much part of the conflict that it is no longer possible to examine it apart from the conflict itself.
