Description

Being based on exclusion from resources, power relations need legitimacy for stability, which lies partly in fulfilling their reason for existence: providing security and conditions of prosperity as public goods. As a power relationship, world order also needs legitimacy, partly through global public goods. (Global) public goods are defined as „provided to all, denied to no one”. This definition is falsified in light of sanction regimes and a lack of consensus. Alternative definitions are proposed, based on availability and relevance to the power relationship, or, upon the processes of power.
